About
Angie Rose Heimann writes earthy, Americana folk songs, belting stirring sagas of damsels in their bliss and distress in a clarion vibrato. As a highly acclaimed songwriter, she has earned recognition from the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest, the South Florida Folk Festival, and the Artists for Literacy SIBL Songwriting Contest.
Fronted by Heimann on guitar, banjo, and vocals, The Blushin' Roulettes serve up old-time Americana folk with a modern, sultry twist. Their music navigates the raw emotional landscapes of love, loss, wildness, domestication, family, and nature. Backing Heimann’s powerful storytelling is a versatile rotating lineup lineup that has included Cas Sochacki on dobro and upright bass, Jay Brown on lead guitar, Luke Stone on piano, Kate Lawler on cello, Cynthia McDermott on mandolin, and many other musical friends.
The full scope of the Roulettes’ most recent 5-piece lineup is perfectly captured on their 12-track album, Live at Farmstead. Recorded over three vibrant live sessions at Farmstead Studio—the multimedia production space founded by the band's own Cas Sochacki—the record showcases high-energy acoustic drive and soulful storytelling. Blending a mix of old and new originals written by Heimann, the tracklist also spans the full creative spectrum of the band, featuring a distinct Tom Petty cover alongside original tracks penned by bandmates Jay Brown and Cynthia McDermott. Driven by standout tracks like "Nine to Five," "Ain't Breakin'," and "Can't Be Tamed," the album serves as a definitive statement of their dynamic live chemistry.
The band has captivated audiences at major roots music gatherings, including the Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival, the San Francisco Free Folk Festival, and the Humboldt Folklife Festival. Over their career, they have shared stages with celebrated acts such as The Wailin' Jennies, The Devil Makes 3, Wayne "The Train" Hancock, and Big Sandy, while their evocative song "Dark of the Wood" has been featured on Destination America.
